How We Test AI Tools

Every review and recommendation on GoDecodeAI is based on actually using the tool — not rewriting its marketing page. Here’s exactly how we evaluate what we cover, so you know what our verdicts are worth.

We use the tool for real work

We don’t judge a tool from its feature list. We sign up (free tier first, paid where it matters), give it a real task in its intended use case, and see how it actually performs — quality of output, how long it takes, where it breaks, and how much cleanup it needs afterward.

Where you see a screenshot on this site, it’s from our own session with the tool. Where you see a verdict, someone here formed it by using the thing.

What we score every tool on

  1. Output quality — is the result actually good enough to use, or does it need heavy fixing?
  2. Ease of use — how fast can a normal person get a useful result?
  3. Value for money — is the paid plan worth it, or is the free tier (or a cheaper rival) enough?
  4. Pricing honesty — hidden limits, credit systems, surprise upgrades, cancellation friction.
  5. Who it’s actually for — beginner, pro, team, or a specific job. The “best” tool depends on you.

How we keep it honest

  • We test the free plan too. Often our recommendation is “start free” — and we’ll say so even when the paid plan pays us more.
  • We verify pricing at publish time and note when we last checked, because AI pricing changes constantly. If you spot a price that’s drifted, tell us.
  • We include the downsides. No tool is perfect. If we can’t name a real weakness, we haven’t tested it hard enough.
  • Affiliate relationships don’t set the ranking. See our Affiliate Disclosure. Commissions never move a tool up a list.
  • We update, not just publish. Reviews carry an “updated” date when the content genuinely changes — we don’t fake freshness by re-dating unchanged posts.

When we haven’t fully tested something

Sometimes we write about a tool we’ve only trialed briefly, or an emerging option we’re still evaluating. When that’s the case, we say so plainly rather than implying deep hands-on experience we don’t have.

Found something wrong?

Accuracy matters more than being first. If a review is out of date or you disagree with a verdict, email info@godecodeai.com — we read it and we fix real mistakes.
